Fluid Inspections are Important for the Car

Having each fluid inspected on a regular basis for the vehicle is important. If you are not sure what fluids should be checked or the correct amount, schedule an appointment. Giving the vehicle a bumper to bumper inspection will help improve the efficiency of it, as well as the dependability. When driving, there are certain fluids that will be needed in order for the vehicle to operate correctly. Without them, you will increase the chance of damage happening to the vehicle and parts under the hood.
Washer Fluid
Make sure that you check the windshield washer fluid. Especially in the fall and winter, the washer fluid is important. It will help you to remove road grime and dirt from the windshield of your vehicle. Without it, you may end up with smears or dirt marks on it. This will then cause issues for your visibility as you drive. You will also want to check the brake fluid of the vehicle. Without brake fluid, the brakes will not work correctly. If you start to notice the brakes are not working as efficient as they otherwise should, make sure to schedule an appointment with us. We can check the brake system, rotors, and even the brake fluid of the vehicle.
You should always follow the oil change schedule for your vehicle as well. The oil helps to keep the engine clean and properly lubricated. If the oil is old, it will cause strain and stress on the engine. This can lead to the engine going out sooner than it otherwise should. If you are not sure of when the oil change schedule should be, contact us. You can also look in the owner’s manual of the vehicle to see when it is recommended. This way you can help your vehicle run smoothly and keep it reliable on the road.
Winter Weather and Getting your Car Prepared

The winter weather means anything from sleet to snow, and sometimes ice. While the weather can change minute to minute, you will want to make sure your vehicle is ready for that. Make sure to bring it in for regular maintenance and inspections. If you are not sure when these should be done, contact us. We will advise you on the options that you have. Also, we can make a recommendation of a schedule you should follow.
Check the fluids
Getting ready for the winter weather means that you should check the fluid levels under the hood as well. By making sure you follow the oil change schedule, you can help keep the engine operating efficiently and smoothly. With every other oil change, it is a good idea to have the oil filter changed as well. This way it will always be able to remove any pollutants or dirt that could be in the oil of your vehicle. When the filter is clean and removes them, it prevents them from getting into the engine. Also remember to check the other fluid levels in your vehicle, including the transmission or brake fluid as well.
How the weather affects the tires
Also remember that you will be driving on snow this winter, so you will want to check the tires. If the tires are not properly inflated, you can increase the chance of damage or issues. As it gets cold, air may start to leak out of the tires. This will cause the tires to become low and increase the chance of blowing out. Along with checking the air pressure, you will also want to look at the tread wear on them. During the winter, roads can become slick. Having the proper tread will help keep good control of your vehicle as you drive. If you are not sure if the tread is correct, we can check it for you.
Removing Frost from the Windshield

When removing frost from the windshield of your vehicle, make sure that you remove all of it. Having the best visibility possible is always important. Do not just scrape a small hole for visibility. You will want the entire windshield clean and clear. This way you will be able to see those around you, reducing chance of an accident. Always take a few extra moments to clear the windshield and other windows of the vehicle. You will want to make sure to have an ice scrapper for your vehicle. This can remove the frost and ice quickly from your vehicle.
Defrost while Removing Frost
The first thing to remember is to turn on the defrost for the vehicle. This will help to warm up the windshield and remove any frost or ice from it. This can also make it easier to scrape it off too. You will want to avoid throwing hot water on the windshield, as this will actually make the windshield crack and break. You will also want to turn on the rear defrost on so you can have proper visibility.
Also remember that you will want to clear the side windows and side mirrors as well. This way you can also see behind you as you back up. Removing frost can be done fairly quick if it is early in the season. As winter goes on, you will have to remember to remove the ice and snow from the hood and roof of your vehicle as well. Keeping it clear of this can help reduce visibility for other drivers as you pass them. It is also a good idea to keep an extra scraper or two in your vehicle. That way incase one breaks, you will have a back up. If you notice the heat and defrost not working on your vehicle, schedule an appointment with us as soon as you can.
Air Pressure and How Much you Need

Air pressure for your vehicle is important for several reasons. When you make sure the air pressure is correct, you will help make sure your vehicle is efficient. If the tires are not properly inflated, then issues and problems can occur. Some of these issues can even happen suddenly. You will want to make sure to follow the recommendation for when you need to bring your vehicle in for an inspection. Having a bumper to bumper inspection done will help keep everything in the best working order possible.
Pressure recommendations
There could be two different areas where you see an air pressure recommendation. One is on the sidewall of the tire. This is put on there by the tire manufacturer. The best recommendation to follow is the one that is on the inside of your doorjamb of your vehicle. This is what the vehicle manufacturer recommends for your vehicle. You can also find the correct amount in the owner’s manual as well. Having the air pressure at this amount will help the vehicle to travel smoothly and efficiently.
When the air pressure is incorrect, you will notice several problems that might happen. If the tires are too low on air, then the vehicle will pull in one direction over the other. This should be looked at immediately to make sure the tires can be driven on. If there is any damage to them, you will want to invest in a new set of tires. This way you can help ensure that your vehicle is the safest on the road when you drive. When tires are over or under inflated, they can be more prone to picking up sharp objects on the road. You may also notice that they might blow out suddenly. This can make for a dangerous situation, especially on slick roads. Make sure to take proper care of your vehicle by bringing it in regularly.
Having the Vehicle Cleaned and Detailed is Important

When the vehicle is cleaned in the interior and exterior, you will notice several benefits of it. The vehicle can maintain the value and overall longevity of it as you drive. If you do not keep it cleaned out, then you could be doing damage to the vehicle without even knowing. If you are not sure what to have cleaned on the vehicle, you can check the owner’s manual. You can also contact us and we can advise you when the vehicle should be detailed or washed. Make sure to clean the headlights and windows as well for your vehicle.
Exterior cleaning
The exterior of the vehicle should be washed on a frequent basis. This will help reduce the chance of rust or corrosion forming on it. The paint can also be kept looking like new as well. Washing the car should also include the windshield and all other windows of it. This way you will be able to see clearly out of all the windows in your vehicle. If one has a smear or grime on it, you may need to scrub that one a little harder. Going through a car wash can also help keep the car clean as well as cleaning the windows.
The Interior Cleaned
Remember that the interior of the vehicle should be cleaned as well. This way all the dirt or gravel that is in the vehicle, can be removed. It will also help to keep it in the best condition for you and your passengers to ride in. If there is a spill, make sure to clean it up before it stains anything. Cleaning it will also help reduce any unpleasant odors that might result from it. If it is a food or beverage, make sure to stop as soon as possible so you can clean it up immediately. Carrying paper towels in your vehicle can help incase of an emergency situation as well.
Battery Testing Should be Done Now

Each fall, testing the battery should be done for your vehicle. As you do this, you can determine if the battery is working as properly as it should be. If the vehicle is starting slower than it otherwise should be, schedule an appointment with us. When you bring the vehicle in, we can test the battery. Doing so will alert us for how much longer the battery will be efficient for your vehicle. You can also check the owner’s manual to see when the battery should have any testing done or be replaced.
Battery Testing and noticing an issue
As you start the vehicle, you will first notice if the vehicle is more difficult to start. While this can be the starter, alternator, or battery, you will want to have it professionally inspected. Another way you may notice it is an issue with the battery is if the lights are becoming dim. This could be the interior lights or even the headlights. If they are dim or flicker, the battery may be to blame. You may also start to notice the overall power of your vehicle diminishes as well. If you start to notice anything when you are driving, make sure to turn off things you do not need like the radio.
In the winter, the cold temperatures can cause the battery to fail. Colder temperatures are harder on the battery than warm temperatures are. Having the vehicle fail and breakdown in the winter can be severe and cause complicated issues for you and any passengers. You will need the vehicle to run so the interior can stay warm incase you go in the ditch. Keeping your vehicle in the most efficient condition possible starts with preventative maintenance. So we recommend you bring your vehicle in so we can give it a bumper to bumper inspection of how it is operating.
Storage for a Classic Car and Steps Needed

Having a classic car can sometimes be an investment or hobby. You will always want to keep the classic car in the most optimal and best condition possible. During the winter months, you probably will not be driving it. The best thing to do is to properly store the car during those months. You will first want to fill the tank with premium gasoline. This will help prevent the chance of moisture to build up in the open space in the tank. If this happens, then the tank can start to rust. You can also add a fuel stabilizer to the gasoline as well. With the fuel stabilizer, you can prevent the fuel from clogging up.
Classic Cars and Fluid Levels
You will want to check all the other fluid levels as well. Having the oil changed will need to be done to help keep the engine operating properly. Before you store your classic car, make sure that all the fluids are at the desired amount that is needed. You can also bring your car in so we can check each fluid level and top them off. When you check the fluids, also remember to look over the tires. The best way to prolong the life of the tires is to put your car on jack stands. This will reduce the amount of weight on the tires and suspicion. Overall it will also prevent the tires from getting a flat spot on them.
Keeping the battery in the proper condition is important too. You will want to remove the battery from the car. If you notice the terminal is corroded, you can clean it carefully. Then you should store the battery on a shelf or somewhere safe. At the very least, you will want to remember to keep it off of the ground. If you place the battery on the ground, you can expect it to lose charge quicker. If you need a new battery, make sure to contact us so we can advise you on the options you have.
Fall Season Driving Tips

As the season starts to change, remember that you may have to adjust some of your driving habits as well. One of the most important ones includes during on the lights of your vehicle. As it starts to get darker at an early time, you will want to remember to turn your headlights on when it starts to become dusk. This is important because it allow other drivers and pedestrians to know where you are on the road. If they cannot see you, they might walk across the road and it could lead to a tragic accident. The same thing should apply for the morning. During the dawn, even if it is light enough to see, make sure to turn the lights on for your vehicle. With deer, other wildlife, farmers, and kids getting ready for school, you will want to be seen.
New Technology this Season
You should also look at any new technology features that could help improve your safety and driving of the vehicle. One thing that is beneficial is investing in a back up camera for the vehicle. Doing so will help you to see and notice what is behind you as you have the vehicle in reverse. There are blind spots all around your vehicle, even with the assistance of mirrors. Having a back up camera will help eliminate those that are right behind your vehicle. The feature can even have an alarm or alert that notifies you when you are getting near something. This allows you to stop immediately as well as seeing what that thing could be. If you are not sure if a back up camera is right for your vehicle, we can advise you on it. Some newer models of vehicles have them already standard and built into them the day that they are purchased.
Tire Inspections for your Vehicle are Important

Tire inspections are important to do regularly. Each tire should be inspected based on a regular interval for your vehicle. If you are not sure when this schedule should be, there are two different ways to check. You can look in the vehicle owner’s manual to see the schedule in there. It is always recommended to bring the vehicle in so we can inspect it for you. That way we can also give you a schedule that we recommend as well. Tires should be maintained by inspecting the tread, air pressure, and overall condition they are in. Anytime there is an issue, always make sure to schedule an appointment with us.
Air Pressure Inspections
Make sure each tire has the correct air pressure in it. This will help the tires rotate correctly and improve the longevity of them. When tires have low air pressure, they can be more prone to blowing out. If the tires have too much air pressure, then they can pick up sharp objects on the road. Either case will also cause them to wear out more quickly. This will then result in you needing to replace them much sooner than you otherwise should. If there is a leak in a tire, make sure that you bring it in so we can inspect both the vehicle and tire for you.
Also remember that the tread should be checked. Look to make sure there is enough tread, and that it is wearing evenly all the way around the tire. If the tires are not properly aligned, one part of the tread will wear down quickly. The tire may also wear out sooner than the rest of the tires should. You can take a penny and place it upside down in the tread groove. Seeing the top of Lincoln’s head is a result of the tread being worn down. If this is the case, a new set of tires is the best option.
Proper Fall Care for your Car

Fall care is important for any vehicle you drive. This will help to ensure that all the parts and components are in the best condition. We can inspect the vehicle bumper to bumper. If you are not sure how often the various parts and components should be inspected, we can advise you on that. This way they will always be working correctly. If you notice an issue with how the parts sound or are working, it is best to have it looked at. This will help you prevent a costly repair bill in the long run.
Fall care tips
Another fall care tip is to make sure that all the fluid levels are at the correct amounts for your vehicle. If you notice that one is below the line, you will want to have it refilled. Notice as well if there is a fluid that is constantly getting low. This could mean there is a leak or crack somewhere in the system. If you ignore this, it will end up costing you more money in the long run, as well as a costly repair bill. The fluids should also be clean and clear for your vehicle. If there is a fluid that looks like sludge and full of grime, you will want to have it flushed and replaced as soon as possible.
Tires checked for your vehicle
The tires should also be inspected during the fall care tune-up. Tires are important because they need to grip the surface of the road when you drive on wet or slick conditions. You can check the tread by taking a penny and placing it upside down in the groove of the tread. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, then the tread is too shallow. You will also want to check the spare tire of your vehicle as well. If a regular tire goes flat, you will need to rely on the spare tire to get you to your destination.
