When you maintain your vehicle during the winter, always remember to check the tires. The tires are important because they allow your vehicle to travel so you can reach the destination. If the tires are in poor condition, you will not be able to drive to where you want to go. The vehicle will also have an increased chance of an accident or issue occurring. Make sure to check the tires on a regular basis. This can help you to notice if an issue is starting to form. If you discover a problem, make sure to bring the vehicle in as soon as possible so we can inspect it for you. We can also check the air pressure, tread wear, and the overall condition of the tires.

The Air Pressure should be Correct

When you are checking the tires, make sure that you check the air pressure. All four tires should be checked to ensure the proper amount of air is in each one. If the air is low in one tire, it could mean that there is a leak in it somewhere. Make sure to bring the vehicle in and we can inspect the tires and air pressure for you. If there is a leak, we can have it repaired so you can get back to proper driving. If the leak is past the point of repairing, we can recommend a good set of tires to invest in. It is always best to have all four tires replaced at once, this way the tires can rotate with one another effectively.

Checking the Tread is Important

When you check the air pressure, also make sure to inspect the tread wear. This can be quick and easy. Make sure to take a penny, and place it upside down in the tread of each tire. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, then the tread is wearing out. It is important to do it on each tire, as some tires may wear out faster than the others. Bring the vehicle in and we can check the tread wear. If the tires need to be rotated, we can recommend this as an option. It is also a good option to have the tires aligned. If they are not aligned properly, then the vehicle may use more fuel than what is necessary. When you notice that the vehicle is traveling poorly, make sure to bring it in.

Always remember to Check the Spare Tire

When you inspect the regular tires, it is also important to check the spare tire. This is important because you will have to rely on the spare tire until the regular tire is fixed. The spare tire should be checked on a regular basis for the correct air pressure, tread wear, and also the condition that the tire is in. If you notice the spare tire has an issue, make sure to bring the vehicle in so we can inspect the overall condition of the tire. This can help keep your vehicle operating efficiently when you drive.
